Unemployment

Tom Delay thinks that people are unemployed because they want to be.
And I can't say he is completely wrong. I was unemployed completely for a while, and that sucked. But I do think our unemployment system allows a little too long of a free pass away from the workforce. I am really lucky to have a company that wants to keep me around and allows me to work part-time and still get health benefits. And part of the reason is that I was able to work a little each week (~10 hours) and still get unemployment benefits. Its a great idea, that keeps workers in touch with their previous employers.
But now that work has picked up, I have started working one week on and the next week off. But, I am working 4 times more than I would need to, to get about the same pay. If I was a more rational guy, I would sit on my couch more and get paid the same.
